RE: BFG A/T or Michelin LTX replacement tires

Great survey - thanks.
Any input on going up one tire size from stock? The 265 tires are about 4% larger (taller) than the stock 245 - so would that mean that the gearing would decrease by an equal percent. Or 4.10 to ~3.95..?

BFG A/T or Michelin LTX replacement tires

Hey Guys -
I am looking to replace my tires - should I go with the BFG all terrain tires or the Michelin LTX?
Also, does anyone know of a calculator that shows what the final drive ratio would be if I went from the 245 to the 265 tire size? I have the 4.10; would it then become a 3.90..?
Thanks

RE: Weekend Warrior - Parts

Guys - Their website (Warrior Lifestyles) clearly says opening Sep 1, 2008. Why would expect an immediate response from a company that is just being formed, staffed and soon to open.
You are bashing the guy, and haven't even given them the chance to open or offer services.
None of the website links are even ready for web traffic as of yet, give him a chance.

RE: 2008 jetta diesel fuel mpg !!

Just to make sure that we are really off topic...
Anyone have real or stated statistics on the E320 CDI from Mercedes? I'd like to get one of those as a freeway driver. You can find them used with low miles for around $25-30k

RE: securing a bike for travel

I use four tie downs on each bike/quad and do not pull them too tight. There is one at each peg / handlebar for the bikes and one at each side of the front / rear bumpers on the quads.
Never once had an issue and I always use a ratcheting style tie down with a locking ring to the D-Ring on the floor of the trailer. If there is a good bounce in the road, the hook won't come undone from the floor with the locking ring.
I use the High Roller Stay Lock tie down - great buy for the security and flexibility of not compressing down the suspension all the way.

RE: Both Gas Gauges work

The gauges work on resistance so if it is moving, albeit a 1/16 of an inch, they are getting power and working.
You are either lower than you thought on gas (the gas gremlins took your gas) or the level indicator inside the tank is not getting a good reading.

RE: costco VS Trojan Batteries

Thanks Tex, I would be interested to get a few bottles and at the next time I need to add water, add that to one on my battery banks and fill the other bank with distilled water as I always have. I already have several years of good service from my current set-up and would be interesting to see how it worked for the next couple of years.

...Genie also adds an oil to the cells that helps the battery keep from going dry...
What are the specifics on the oil and who else out there adds an additive to batteries?

RE: Truck Brake Lights working, connection NOT

Good Evening -
I do have amber lights on the truck and they must be going through a conversion somewhere as the 7 pin plug indicates that the turn and stop lamp are on the same pin, of course there is one pin for the right and another for the left.
I did not check the connection behind the plug and will check to see if it is the culprit. Would seem weird however since all of the other connections are working according to my volt meter.
Is there a fused link somewhere in the wiring that is outside of the main fuse box? I seem to recall a few years back someone indicated that behind the glove box there was one...?
I do have a good connection to the trailer - both the parking lights, right and left blinkers are working on the trailer. I disconnected the connection and applied a 12v lead from the battery to the stop light pin on the connector and the trailer stop lamps illuminated. The trailer is eliminated as a potential source or cause of the issue and appears to be fully functional.

Truck Brake Lights working, connection NOT

Good Afternoon -
I have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD with the 8.1L. On my last trip out a fellow motorist advised me that the trailer brake lights were not functioning. Being about three miles from my house, I continued home to investigate the problem.
The truck brake lights are functioning fine, however the pins in the plug are not getting any voltage reading when I press the brake. However, both the left and the right blinker are receiving 12v - which is passed across the same pin for a 7 way plug.
I have checked the fuse box under the hood - there are fuses for trailer signal lamps, but not the brake lamp. All fuses in that box look good. I have checked the brake wire harness from the brake Prodigy controller to the panel it connects to and it too appears to be in good shape. I have checked (albeit generally) the wire harness under the truck to the plug and there does not appear to be any damage.
Is there a fuse somewhere that I am not seeing or has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks in Advance,
Lake
